The Word Became in Jesus

The Word became in Jesus
a man though being God
That he might touch and heal us
with hands of flesh and blood.

We took the gifts he brought us
and found that they were good,
Then took the hands that brought them
and nailed them down to wood.

But God in his great wisdom
through love had found a way
To be with us forever --
the grain that died would stay.

His love became Christ Jesus,
his life become our food;
Through bread and wine we feed on
the very life of God.

O sing of praise and wonder
may joy fill every phrase,
His Word become our life blood
will sing through us God's praise.
