In 1966, Prior Columba suggested to Cardinal Joseph E. Ritter that the Abbey church also serve as the church for Saint Anselm Parish. This arrangement complemented the existing work of the Abbey. Today, two monks lead what has grown into a parish of 950 families. As the external Abbey family has grown, so has the Abbey’s service. Ministry now encompasses numerous activities such as retreats, conferences, marriage preparation, and lectio groups.
