Sacred Music Concert: April 12, 7:30 PM

Calmus Ensemble, one of the most renowned young vocal ensembles of Europe, will give a concert at Saint Louis Abbey on April 12, at 7:30 pm. Acclaimed by music critics as a “new star in the firmament of a capella ensembles” Calmus is praised for flawless intonation, vocal homogeneity, and their astounding palette of sonic colors. Sueddeutsche Zeitung has lauded their “precision, exceptionally fine-tuned pitch and never-ending expressiveness.” See the flyer for more information.

Message from Father Bede Price, OSB, Rector of Ss. Gregory and Augustine

The Oratory of Ss. Gregory and Augustine was canonically established at the Abbey on 2 December, 2008 to serve the needs of the faithful attached to the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite (the Traditional Latin Mass) in West County St. Louis, St. Charles County and further west as well. We are so grateful to Archbishop Burke for his pastoral concern and care for us. A great joy for us was a special Extraordinary Form Mass celebrated by Abbot Patrick Barry, abbot-emeritus of Ampleforth, to commemorate his 90th birthday. Fr. Thomas Keller of the Archdiocese of St. Louis has helped us with the first stage of the renovation of our Chapel, and we have plans to make further improvements in the months ahead as money becomes available. Our hope is that the Chapel may truly be a fitting setting for the celebration of the sacred liturgy.

Mass is celebrated in the Oratory at 7:30 AM, daily as well as a second Mass at 10:30 AM on Sundays. There is also an evening Mass at 7:00 PM on all Holy Days of Obligation.

There is adoration in the chapel from 8:15 am to 10:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Words of Thanksgiving

During the celebration of our Jubilees, many words of thanksgiving were spoken in homilies, lectures, and addresses, etc. Father Timothy Horner has collected these in a 64-page booklet for use as a reference resource. If you would like to request a free print copy of Words of Thanksgiving, please contact Shelly Kurtz in the Development Office: skurtz@priory.org, 314.434.0031 ext. 312.
